Assignment 21A - Reading Reflection No. 2

1.    What was the general theme or argument of the book?
a.    The general theme of Innovation and Entrepreneurship by Peter Drucker is to explain the challenges and new opportunities that come along with the new economic system that surrounds innovative ideas and thinking, along with the entrepreneurial mindset that is required when making innovative business decisions.

2.    How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
a.    In my opinion, the book connected and enhanced what I am learning in ENT 3003 because it shows a true correlation between real-world experiences and shows that you can truly make your own start-up or innovate an idea and make something great out of it.

3.    If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
a.    Based on the book I read, the exercise I would design for this class would involve creating your own start-up idea. This is very similar to what we completed in the Workshops that Dr. Pryor created for us.

4.    What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
a.    When most people think about innovation or entrepreneurship, they think of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, etc. From an outsider’s point-of-view, it seems impossible to actually reach that milestone in your life where you can call yourself an entrepreneur. After reading this book, it truly shows the reader that anyone can be  an innovator and/or an entrepreneur if you set your mind to it.

Assignment 12A - Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Choosing a segment: For this specific assignment, I chose the segment of young drivers. All of the drivers that I interviewed have new cars and they paid extra to get the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto option. These drivers are all college-aged students that mostly travel to campus. These individuals had mostly positive things to say about their experiences. There were some topics that they brought up to make changes to their user experience. Interviews: -        Adrian, 18-year-old college student, has great experience using Apple CarPlay with his iPhone. Since he cannot access all features of his cell phone with CarPlay, he tends to use his cell phone while operating his vehicle. “I wish there was a way to view and access all aspects of my phone while driving. ·       WHO: While completing my interviews, I realized that there are two main groups of people who fall outside of the boundary. One group consists of the elder generation that refuses to learn the technology that comes equipped in their vehicles. I interviewed a 60-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man. Both of these individuals drive new vehicles that are equipped with Bluetooth. Neither of these individuals have even bothered to figure out how the Bluetooth option works in each of their vehicles. Most of these people grew up in an era where technology was never even thought about. They mostly see technology as something that is difficult to comprehend, unless you’re a tech geek.
