Assignment 8A - Solving the Problem

Solving the problem for texting and driving is not necessarily guaranteed. Since you cannot force someone to use their Bluetooth while driving, the problem lies within the driver of the vehicle. Most people do not realize how many car accidents occur due to people who text and drive. This leads to my solution to the problem. I believe that there should be a service where advocates for hands-free driving visit high schools and colleges across the nation to explain to them the scary and staggering statistics that follow people who text and drive. I would also like to bring people who have been affected by texting and driving to each of the locations across the nation. Providing people with more insight and personal stories might be beneficial so they can experience personal examples and real-world. I would love for this service to be able to stop at every high school and college in America so more people can be cautious while operating their vehicles.

  1. Alexandra I do agree with you on the heart of the issue with texting and driving -- that the core of the issue lies within the driver himself/herself. I think also one step that can be taken in order to help this issue out, is that with newer technological phones, disabling the usage of certain apps like texting while driving could most definitely decrease the number of car accidents due to distracted drivers in our nation.
