Assignment 14A - Halfway Reflection
1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What
are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the
requirements of this course?
-One of the behaviors that I have
used the most to keep up with the requirements of this course is time
management. Keeping up with the cupcakes, blog posts, and comments has been
very difficult, especially while trying to keep up with the work from my other
classes. Another behavior that I have used a lot for this class is detail.
While completing my interviews for our assignments, I have learned to be very
detailed with my work so the readers can clearly understand people’s opinions
and views. Both of these behaviors have taught me how to be a better student.
2) Tenaciousness is also about
attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like
"giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've
developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or
experiences most contributed to this?
-There have been many times
throughout this semester that made me feel like “giving up”. One time, in
specific, was during exam week. Most of my professors had assigned the most
work during the first exam week of the semester. Trying to study for exams
while also trying to complete my assignments in a timely manner was very difficult.
I realized that the outcome of pushing through this extremely difficult week
would be well worth it in the end. So, I pushed myself to the limit and
completed exam week successfully.
3) Three tips. What are
three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the
skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
-There are many tips that I would
offer to next semester’s students. I would suggest that they work ahead of
their schedule, if possible. Working ahead of time allows you to spend time
focusing on other classes and allows you to manage your time better. Another
tip that I would recommend is enjoy the class that you are taking. Even if you
dislike the class or the professor, try to find something and learn from it in
each of your classes. Although it may sound counterintuitive, you never know
what can help you down the road. And lastly, do not let the bad times take over
for the good times. College is stressful and forces us to work to our max capacity
all of the time. Overcoming a bad time will eventually lead to better times
down the road. So, work had and focus now, and relax afterwards.
